What is an MCP connector?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants call external tools. Your BudgetMind MCP URL lets Claude or any compatible AI read your live YNAB data on demand — no manual exports.
Is my YNAB API key safe?
Yes. Your key is encrypted and stored in Google Cloud Secret Manager. It never touches our database, and it's only used when your AI assistant makes a request.
Which AI assistants work with the MCP connector?
Claude (via claude.ai or the desktop app), Cursor, Windsurf, and any client that supports Streamable HTTP MCP transport.
Do I need a Claude subscription for the Chat plan?
No. The Chat plan includes a built-in interface powered by Claude Haiku — no separate Claude subscription needed. The Connector plan works with whatever AI you already have.
What happens after my trial ends?
Your data stays safe. The MCP endpoint and chat stop working until you pick a plan. You can upgrade at any time from the billing page.
